2 Days of Partying

Since 2 days we have had a house to ourselves…. reason for the same….. the in-laws are travelling & thus the house is empty. The same indicates that for the next 3 days we were going to be partying there without anyone around, kinda like school or college where in you wait for the opportunity to have the house to yourself when parents aren’t home & party like there is no tomorrow 🙂

Bike Ride View

Random Pic During Bike Ride

So the 1st day, due to excessive work, we could not capitalize on it as we got done late from work, post which a severe headache made my life hell. Day 2 (which also happened to be a Holiday due to Dassera, a Hindu Festival) was going to be a make up day basis the same. I woke up, went for a bike ride which was awesome, as the early morning breeze was spectacular. Also after a while, I rode past Siddhivinayak Temple at Prabhadevi, went all the way till Shivaji Park & back….. absolutely amazing the experiance was! If the breeze is an indication of the winter, mid Novemeber through till end of February is going to be awesome fun, specially for bike rides. Got home, decided to play some NBA2k13 on the Xbox360 which, according to Mihir & me, is the finest basketball game ever!!! Played with Chicago Bulls & Derrick Rose, awesome fun way to start the day!

Yummmmyyyyy!!!

Post that, crashed & passed out for about a good 4 hours, woke up to an awesome lunch at home which was a full-on punjabi cuisine spread & included fried papads… Confession time, I love fried papads, I can like just keep eating them without stopping. Through the afternoon, decided to go to the in-laws house for some general chilling & to make up for lost time the night before. Chilled over there with Vishal, Ekta & Ra. After ages, did lots of Sheesha also had loads Beer, current favorite in local beers is Miller! Evening was spent eating Dosas for Dinner & a Telegu Horror movie on cable…

The Only way to Drink!!!

Awesomeness!!!

Day 3 began with work as usual, though the POA was to have this major Non-Veg feast at the in laws. For lunch, we ordered food from The Bombay Kitchen which was brilliant: the Chilli Dog, Rice with Indonesian Gravy, Stuffed Chicken & Tenderloine was amazing! Come evening, we all were there – Mihir, Yooti, Vishal, Ekta & Rachita. On the menu, which was totally being managed & cooked by Rachita, there was Salad with Chorizo & and an Orange Reduction dressing, creamed Spinach & Mushroom, Masala Sausages, Chicken Sorpotel & Rice (Do check the below slide show to see the amazing food pictures). The food was simply delicious every one ate to their hearts content & more. Obviously there were beers, though this time, due to non availibility of Miller, we had ordered King Fisher Ultra, there was also a Rum, Thumbs Up, Ice & Chaat Masala Cocktail we call Boondi made, again lots of Sheesha was done & general chilling happened. Also through the day, Mihir & I played a bit of Guitar, currently our obsession is learning how to play the Blues.

Happiness on a Plate!!!

Overall, out of the 3 days where we had the house to ourselves, we made most of the 2 days & had awesome food, alcohol & loads of fun!!! The food, courtesy Rachita, most definitely was the show stopper. Also occasions like this somehow just become so much more exciting as there is a time-line attached to having fun before the house gets occupied again. Hopefully in a week or 2 we will have the house to ourselves as most of the family is travelling basis Diwali, fingers crossed 🙂

The Zoo Visit

For the longest time I have wanted to visit the Zoo in Mumbai. Over the last year I regularly passed by it while coming back from work, but never visited it. Finally, over the weekend, I decided a little photography needs to happen and hence the visit to the Zoo was planned. For people who want to visit the Zoo, it is open Tues-Sun 9:00am to 6:00pm.

I picked Friday to go there, I thought it was a weekday and there would be less people, unfortunately that was not the case; due to it being Friday, there were schools and menacing kids waiting outside, yelling and creating general hooliganism. I manoeuvred through the crowds and managed to reach the front gate; it took about 5 odd minutes before they opened. I quickly ran to the ticket counter, out running about 50 kids and waving my hands as if I have won the 100 meters world championship. It cost about 5 rupees to enter the zoo and another 20 if you have a camera, I had 2 cameras so cost me double. As soon as you enter the zoo, the first thing you notice is all the greenery and vast space. I was surprised to see a dedicated work force of people running to keep the place clean and also take care of the animals in the there. I moved clockwise. The first thing I came across was a green house, the same can only be seen from the outside, visitors can’t actually walk through it, next on the cards the monkey cages; please note our zoo is prehistoric we don’t have open areas for animals we still have cages, which is very sad. It was early so there was limited activity in the cages just a guy cleaning the place. From there I moved on to the deers, these guys had it set, large open grounds where they can move around; unfortunately, taking pictures was a challenge, purely based on my distance but managed to sneak a few in courtesy the zoom lens. Next on the cards the elephant enclosure and the crocodile enclosure. The elephants were kept very far away and were having their breakfast so could only spot one of them, the crocodiles were lying in a dirty swamp motionless, onlookers watching them kept saying they’re dead……I wanted to throw one of them in the pond to test the theory 🙂

From there, I moved to the Hippopotamus shelter. There were two large hippos resting in the water all I could see was their backs, I was disappointed I was really looking forward to seeing a hippo in all its glory. As I moved away from the enclosure, I heard a loud noise that startled me a little, moving towards the sound I saw there was another enclosure where a Hippo was eating. I quickly grabbed a picture of the enclosure with a smile on my face. From there I moved to the lion cages, unfortunately there were 2 domestic cats sitting in the cage, the cleaner informed me the lion had passed away. Next was the birds, the smaller birds are kept in small cages which is sad, the silver lining here is the cages are clean and the birds are fed well. The bear enclosure was massive, but unfortunately I could not spot the bear, he probably was trying to avoid the morning sun. While I was near the bear enclosure, some kids yelled out “UNCLE, UNCLE”. I walked there, they called me to show me a Porcupine cage, where they had spotted an albino Porcupine, I quickly took a few shots and moved towards the last exhibit in the Zoo.

Final destination in the Zoo the very large Bird cages. While on my way there, I noticed a few large statues, placed in the middle of floral arrangements – these immediately reminded me of Gears Of Wars, do have a look at the picture to your left. After a fairly long walk and empty enclosures I reached the massive bird cages, these were birds that lived around water, Flamingos, Swans and so on, I was fairly impressed with the way these birds were kept, of course I could only stand a few minutes near the enclosure, annoying kids came and started going “Uncle one photo, one photo”. After not taking their pictures finally decided to exit the Zoo, all in all I was disappointed with the experience, not only the photography, the Zoo has become a barren place with hardly any animals; I would not recommend a visit here unless you want to be very depressed. Do check out some of the pictures around the blog and comment or send us feedback in the section below. All images shot using Nikon D5100.

Our Own Food Festival Part 2

So continuing from where we left off about 10 days ago, the journey continued in terms of awesome food. Also considering it was October, which also happens to be Mihir & my Birthday Month & yes we celebrate the whole month :-).  Having said that back to the foodgasm tour. This time around, Rachita had made some brilliant Shortbread with Caramel & Chocolate Ganache which was totally and absolutely amazing as you can see in the picture below.

Heavenly!!!

We also have my brother-in-law’s birthdays in the month of October & so we decided to celebrate the same with mine & Mihir’s birthday. Before we get to that menu I need to tell you guys about the crazy #beerfest we had at our residence courtesy Mihir & Yooti. About 10 days ago, Mihir & Yooti got me loads of Birthday Gifts. The same included the Das Boot Glasses (Glasses in Shape of Boots) & Loads of Beers from around the world; so that evening, we went crazy drinking the likes of Murphy’s Stout, Birra Morreti, Super Bock, London Pride & a choice of flavored Beers from Indus Pride which included Corriander, Cinnamon & Spicy Fennel….the same was absolutely unbelievable… We were all decently drunk as we tasted & finished all the beers; even Rachita who doesn’t drink had a swig of most of the flavors!

Beers!!!

Super Awes

Delicious Cupcakes!!!

We had Ritika & Suneel over for an evening where Rachita had made some Paprika Puffs with Devilled Mushrooms. There were 3 types of dips with tortilla chips, pretzels and pita chips. There were some awesome Grape, Basil & Ricotta sticks which were off the charts!!! There were also some amazing cupcakes with butter icing. That was the 1st party! The 2nd one was with the family & in-laws where we had made like an interactive meal – the same consisted of Chilli Beans, Chick Peas with a Caribbean Seasoning, Panner Chilli & French Fries in Mustard. The guests were served hot Roomali Roti’s & they could decide the roll they wanted to make, the concept was a run away hit… For dessert that day, Rachita & I had put together a 6 Layer creation that included Red velvet Cake, Shortbread, Chocolate Ganache, Caramel, Coconut Flavored Cheese Cake, Fresh Fruits with a drizzled of chocolate & Icecream. The same we layered into individual glasses, so the helpings were easy to eat and also the same let the flavors sink into the dessert which was absolutely & totally sensational!!!

Goo!!!

Sensational!!!

Yummmmyyy!!!

The rains have also gone away which is great news as I have been going on my bike rides very regularly. Also Ekta’s bike was here this weekend so I decided to take the same for a spin which was awesome fun. The weather in the mornings is absolutely perfect & just makes the whole experience brilliant!!! Last week Ekta & I went for a ride in the evening – she on Goo & me on my Avenger, stopped at Woodside Inn for a drink, rode back home had more to drink & totally killed it. This Friday we went to Soul Fry Casa, one of our most favorite places & got shitfaced on some watermelon Martinis & Sugarcane, Ginger & Vodka mix… Over the weekend, i.e the one which just went by, we went to Karma for lunch, had Pizzas, Sizzlers & Wok Tossed Noodles. Also, we were celebrating Vishal’s Birthday & for the same, Rachita had made a brilliant Rainbow Cake. You have to see the pictures in the slide show below. For dinner there was super salad, grilled vegetables, a chunky roasted potato mash, polenta topped with a mushroom reduction which was unbelievably delicious; not to forget, we had some roasted fennel as well!!!  Yup, so that’s been our crazy food experience since the past coupla weeks. Do check the pictures in the slide show for a yummy visual treat & till next time, happy eating 🙂

So since last week, there have been multiple places visited & also loads of great food cooked at home by the lovely Mrs. (Rachita). Do continue reading for the details of the same its yummylicious!!!

Best Cheesecake Ever!!!

Yummyyy!!!

Cinnamon Rolls to Die For…

Last week, we were working from our fort office & right next to the same is a quaint eatery called Lalit Refreshments which serves fabulous value for money food. We ordered some awesome rotis, paneer in a red gravy, papads, pickle and dosas from there for lunch! As you can see in the picture, the food was pretty damn awesome!!! The next day was a holiday, as it was the start of the Ganpati festival. For the same, Rachita baked an awesome cheesecake with cinnamon dusting on it…. matlab post eating that we are totally clear about our patisserie business 🙂 The next day we decided to make Cinnamon rolls. Please note I was there helping Rachita a.k.a. The Food Magician in making this piece of awesomeness; for a 1st attempt, the rolls were delicious & we made a lot of them & kept aside and ate them regularly till end of the week. For dinner that night, was Samosa Chaat which was courtesy my very lovely mother; needless to say it was totally killer… In this whole thing, I forgot to mention that the Bike Rides were also happening regularly considering the weather has been super awesome, I mean no rains. How awesome is that!

My Prized Possession!!!

Hand Tossed Home Made Pizzas!!!

Then came the weekend & full-on party mode was in progress as Ekta was back from Baroda so Beers, Rum, etc. flowed like the Nile… In the morning, Rachita & me had made preparations for hand tossed Pizzas. Do check the pictures in the gallery below. Also then there was some super sensational chocolate cake with yellow butter icing which was in the shape of modak (ladoos) ha ha ha ha! Our tribute to Ganpati 🙂 Next day post morning bike ride & general chilling, Rachita & I decided to go & check some speakers at Phoneix Mills. Visited JBL, Croma & also Bose, the experience at the Bose showroom was the best! They showcased  a demo of the crazy Video Wave Experience which was the greatest sound experience of a television ever!!! If you guys are around a Bose showroom, do walk in and check out the demo its sensational.

You have to taste it to believe it…

Delicious!!!

Droooooooooooooooollllllllll!!!

Post the retail therapy session, we decided to go to Cafe Zoe as we had never been there with Analushka / Anus who’s picture is also featured in the slide show below. The place has a nice decor – is very spacious. Post being seated, we checked the menu. Immediately I ordered the steak burger which was extremely inviting also added some bacon to it, Rachita ordered a basket of breads, fries and also some vegetables with red and white quinoa, also ordered some Hoegaarden. Post a leisurely lunch and a gossip session, we decided to head home and crash for a bit. In the evening, I decided to go out for the bike ride. While riding, figured it’s Gauri day which is part of the Ganpati festival where in a statues of the Goddess Gauri are also bought home & immersed in to the water in a day’s time. There was crazy traffic across the roads but on the bike it was totally a breeze, en-route also visited the in-laws house which I was stalking through the day as it was my random activity of the day (stalking the in-laws building). Ekta rode the bike home with me after the in-laws meet & greet. For dinner there was some crazy super awesome Enchiladas. You have to check the pictures of the same in the slide show. All in all, we been eating awesomeness and just thought the same needed to be posted on the blog. Hope you have had fun reading this post as much as we have had eating the food 🙂 Don’t miss the Slide show below it has some delicious & yummy pictures!!!

Heaven!!!
