The Slamdunk

With the NBA Allstar game around the corner, today was a good idea to do a post around the same. Actually, this post is about one of ours & everyone else’s who watches the NBA’s favourite play, the SLAMDUNK!!! Over a period of time, since the ABA & Dr. J (Julius Erving popularised this great feat) the slamdunk has come a long & high way ;-).

nba_slam_dunk_contest_history_widescreen

My brother, Mihir, & I have been watching basketball since forever. Although initially, we didn’t really watch it for the love of the game.. actually we did; we used to play Tecmo Basketball on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) & that, over a period of time, got us familiar with the teams and the players. Soon we migrated to watching the game. This was around the time cable TV was introduced to India & ESPN & Starsports were broadcasting matches. Anyways, the Slamdunk & its versions, the tip-in dunk & the alley-oop, were our all time favorite things to watch in the game. We also followed some great dunkers & their exploits; to name a few – Clyde Drexler, Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, Scottie Pippen, Spud Webb, Shawn Kemp, Kobe Bryant,  etc. etc.. For all those interested in seeing the history of the Slamdunk Contest check the link http://www.nba.com/history/allstar/slamdunk_year_by_year.html ; also below is the video for the Top 10 dunks of all time in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest:

Moving on….. what i wanted to talk about was the evolution of the sport and my top few dunkers. Let me start by talking about my most favorite dunkers & my top 5 in order are – at number 1 – The Reign Man, Shawn Kemp number 2 – Half Man Half Amazing, Vince Carter & current favorite at number – 3 Blake Griffin. Vince & Blake both have been Slamdunk Contest winners; Kemp, on the other hand, hasn’t won any Slamdunk Contests yet, though his Alley-Oops courtesy Gary Payton and his insane in-game dunks are absolutely revolutionary. Vince Carter’s showing in the 2000 dunk contest is probably the greatest showing in the history of the NBA Slamdunk contest ever!!! Blake also showcased some amazing dunks during his winning run in 2011, his bounce ball off the board elbow dunk was very cool & his over the car dunk was a showcase event. Also, through the years, the dunk competetion has seen a great many dunkers like Jason Richardson, Nate Robinson, the only 3 time winner, Gerald Green, Josh Smith, Dwight Howard, etc. Don’t miss Vince Carter’s performance in the Slam Dunk Contest, check the below video:

Dwight Howard, one of the few big men who won the crown in 2008 with the Superman dunk, which according to me is when the dunk evolved…. Dwight jumped so high that he actually threw the ball downwards into the rim from far. Further to that, and since then, Blake Griffin has taken that to another level with his crazy dunks over Kendrick Perkins & Pau Gasol. His teammate, DeAndere Jordan, also matches Blake’s ability to fly, and showcases monstorous dunks regularly. Gerald Green, with his insane dunk, wherein his head was above the rim & then he decides to windmill the same………. insane, I tell you. Then there is Jawal Mcgee who, according to me, should have been a co winner with Blake Griffin in the slamdunk contest. This guy is a freak of nature,  with the arm span he has…… every time he dunks his hand is above the white box! All these guys have taken the art of dunking to the next level. A worthy mention here is The King, Lebron James, who as per me, has some of the most insane & powerful ingame dunks! When he jumped over John Lucas the 3rd, it was a sight which not many will ever forget! Blake vs. Jawal in the video below:

This year’s competetion features some great dunkers, though, no real superstar … which is a bummer :-(. NBA, take notice! Get Lebron, Blake & a few others to take part. Having said that, the competition this year features……click on the hyperlinks to see highlights of the participants:

2013 Eastern Conference Sprite Slam Dunk Competitors

Gerald Green (Indiana) Terrence Ross (Toronto) James White (New York)

2013 Western Conference Sprite Slam Dunk Competitors

Eric Bledsoe (L.A. Clippers) Jeremy Evans (Utah) Kenneth Faried (Denver)

My pick? I don’t have a single one, but will go with boys from the eastern conference – each of them has insane ups!!!

Intresting Trivia:

1) Nate Robinson has won the contest thrice as part of the New York Knicks

2) Three Atlanta Hawks have won the Slamdunk Contest – Dominique, Spudd & Josh Smith

3) Julius Erving never won the NBA contest but won it when it was a part of the ABA

Year End Roadtrip & More

So this year’s been pretty fun with roadtrips. If you have been following our blog, you’ll know we’ve been to Pune & Goa in the last 3 months, and most recently, that is last week, we decided to go to Baroda or Vadodra as people call it. Details of that trip are captured on this post. Do have a read, good people!!!

Brilliant Weather & Highway

Danger Ha ha ha ha!!!

Danger Ha ha ha ha!!!

So Ekta has been in Baroda for a while. We have a house there & she had been inviting us there for some general chilling. Fortunately, the house was going to be empty, parents were vacationing in Kolkata so this was enough reason to go there & party!!! So last Thursday, Rachita, Vishal & me decided to drive down to Baroda in our trusty ride, the Skoda Laura aka Motilal. Also accompanying us on the journey there was Rachita’s grandmom who needed to be dropped off in Baroda at Rachita’s aunts’ and her daughter’s house. We started the journey from South Bombay in early hours of the morning, at about 4:30 am, & basis the fantastic roads and awesome weather, reached Baroda by in about 6.5 hours which was pretty awesome…

Gooooooooooooo!!!

Gooooooooooooo!!!

Super Awesomeness!!!

Super Awesomeness!!!

Reaching the house, we were greeted by Ekta who we think was in quite a shock as it was taking her a while to digest that we had actually made it there! In the past, there have been instances where in she has invited us there & for some reason or the other we haven’t been able to make it. Anyways, there was some awesome dhokla & khaman awaiting us which we hogged. Also had a few beers to kick start the party, please note Gujarat is a dry state & thus Baroda also is encompassed within that law, though if you have a permit you can legally get Alcohol; the good news is that Ekta’s dad has a permit :-). Post a quick nap, we moved to having Bailey’s Irish Cream on the rocks which was our drink of the trip i.e. Ekta’s & mine. For dinner we went to Yoko’s sizzlers had some good chicken sizzlers & starters & called it a day… Oh! before I forget, on reaching Baroda, Ekta & me went for a bike ride on her Royal Enfield fondly known as Goo after the game World of Goo. People in Baroda do not follow traffic rules & drive pretty crazy is what I learnt on my 1st bike ride in Baroda.

Heaven with a dash of Butter...

Heaven with a dash of Butter…

Pure Brilliance!!!

Pure Brilliance!!!

Day 2 kicked off in the morning early. The weather was absolutely brilliant so I decided to take Goo out for a ride. In about 10 minutes on the bike, I froze stiff the temperature was about 14 degrees, though on the bike, at about 60 kmph it felt like it had dropped to about 8 degrees & lower – was pretty crazy, but fun. Got back home & played some blues on my blue guitar (that was cheezy, the line, but wanted to use it so what the heck). Playing the guitar in the brilliant Baroda weather felt sensational. Post that, watched some NBA on TV the Clippers take on the Celtics; this game saw Clippers win their 16th game in a row which was totally awesome! Hands down currently the most exciting in the NBA is the Los Angeles Clippers.

Slept again for a bit, woke up to beers & general chilling with Vishal, Ekta & Rachita. For a brunch, we ate some puffs & biscuits from a local bakery called Goodies. For dinner, decided to go have Raju Omelet; this time around, we went to another location which apparently is being run by Rajubhai’s brother who was the original cook for Rajubhai at the original flagship store. Yes, Raju Omelet has now got multiple branches! We ate some awesome egg preparations drowning in butter as you can see in the pictures! This time tried a new dish on the menu the Bhurji Wrap which was unbelievably delicious, diced egg bhurji & shredded boiled egg wrapped in an omelet floating in butter!!! Doesn’t get better than that…

Goodies!!!

Goodies!!!

Day 3 was similar to 2. Started off playing the guitar, though in the chilly weather gave the bike ride a skip, watched TV & passed out while Ekta & Rachita went shopping; slept for a good 4 hours & woke up to the fact that Rachu & Eku had bought out the whole of Baroda! For lunch, Baingan ka Bharta was had (Eggplant Preparation); post that there was like a fashion parade where in the girls were trying out outfits – were generally super excited about the whole experience. I was watching TV, while Vishal had passed out for a bit. In the night, we were going to get a few buckets from KFC, though when we went to pick them up, we found out that the store was still closed and that they were planning on opening come new year. So, next to our residence is this quaint eatery called Midday Munchies, where we went and picked up wraps & pizzas. We went home, ate & passed out.

Yayyyyy More Beer!!!

Yayyyyy More Beer!!!

Day 4 started off watching UFC 155….. Junior Dos Santos being walloped by Cane Valesquez; lots of beers were drunk. Lunch was a severely gujju style Bajra ni Khichdi with Lasan Chutney & Buttermilk. After this, we decided to watch some crazy south Indian movies dubbed in hindi on Tata Sky; we watched 2 movies back to back 1 of them was brilliant called Return of Chandramookhi starring Maamooty, also note in the middle of the movie, we kinda got hungry so decided to go grab some food & record the movie. We went to this place called 22nd Parallel which serves awesome South Indian food. We didn’t realise it was a Sunday evening when we left! The eatery was packed & we had to wait for about 20 minutes to get a table. Though, it was totally worth the wait as we ate some awesome Dosas, Wadas, Idlis, Rasam, Rice, etc. etc. Post getting home, we watched the recorded movie which was totally spectacular & went to sleep as Rachita & me had to head back to Bombay the next morning. Woke up again early & left by 4:30 am, I drove after eons for about half the journey & Rachita drove the other half; the roads & weather were super! Also add to that it was the 31st, so there was minimal traffic & we reached home by 11:00 am.

Shopping!!!

Also add to that it was the 31st, so there was minimal traffic & we reached home by 11:00 am. Overall, the Baroda trip was super awesome! For any of you planning a trip from Bombay to Baroda, I strongly suggest that you drive down; also the weather will be sensational till mid February so plan something soon. 2 places which are a must visit in case you are in Baroda – Raju Omlet & 22nd Parallel. Trust me, you wont be disappointed. Also here’s wishing all our readers a very happy new year, have a lucky 13!!!

2 Days of Partying

Since 2 days we have had a house to ourselves…. reason for the same….. the in-laws are travelling & thus the house is empty. The same indicates that for the next 3 days we were going to be partying there without anyone around, kinda like school or college where in you wait for the opportunity to have the house to yourself when parents aren’t home & party like there is no tomorrow 🙂

Bike Ride View

Random Pic During Bike Ride

So the 1st day, due to excessive work, we could not capitalize on it as we got done late from work, post which a severe headache made my life hell. Day 2 (which also happened to be a Holiday due to Dassera, a Hindu Festival) was going to be a make up day basis the same. I woke up, went for a bike ride which was awesome, as the early morning breeze was spectacular. Also after a while, I rode past Siddhivinayak Temple at Prabhadevi, went all the way till Shivaji Park & back….. absolutely amazing the experiance was! If the breeze is an indication of the winter, mid Novemeber through till end of February is going to be awesome fun, specially for bike rides. Got home, decided to play some NBA2k13 on the Xbox360 which, according to Mihir & me, is the finest basketball game ever!!! Played with Chicago Bulls & Derrick Rose, awesome fun way to start the day!

Yummmmyyyyy!!!

Post that, crashed & passed out for about a good 4 hours, woke up to an awesome lunch at home which was a full-on punjabi cuisine spread & included fried papads… Confession time, I love fried papads, I can like just keep eating them without stopping. Through the afternoon, decided to go to the in-laws house for some general chilling & to make up for lost time the night before. Chilled over there with Vishal, Ekta & Ra. After ages, did lots of Sheesha also had loads Beer, current favorite in local beers is Miller! Evening was spent eating Dosas for Dinner & a Telegu Horror movie on cable…

The Only way to Drink!!!

Awesomeness!!!

Day 3 began with work as usual, though the POA was to have this major Non-Veg feast at the in laws. For lunch, we ordered food from The Bombay Kitchen which was brilliant: the Chilli Dog, Rice with Indonesian Gravy, Stuffed Chicken & Tenderloine was amazing! Come evening, we all were there – Mihir, Yooti, Vishal, Ekta & Rachita. On the menu, which was totally being managed & cooked by Rachita, there was Salad with Chorizo & and an Orange Reduction dressing, creamed Spinach & Mushroom, Masala Sausages, Chicken Sorpotel & Rice (Do check the below slide show to see the amazing food pictures). The food was simply delicious every one ate to their hearts content & more. Obviously there were beers, though this time, due to non availibility of Miller, we had ordered King Fisher Ultra, there was also a Rum, Thumbs Up, Ice & Chaat Masala Cocktail we call Boondi made, again lots of Sheesha was done & general chilling happened. Also through the day, Mihir & I played a bit of Guitar, currently our obsession is learning how to play the Blues.

Happiness on a Plate!!!

Overall, out of the 3 days where we had the house to ourselves, we made most of the 2 days & had awesome food, alcohol & loads of fun!!! The food, courtesy Rachita, most definitely was the show stopper. Also occasions like this somehow just become so much more exciting as there is a time-line attached to having fun before the house gets occupied again. Hopefully in a week or 2 we will have the house to ourselves as most of the family is travelling basis Diwali, fingers crossed 🙂

1 King to Rule Them All

Scorching Heat!!!

Miami Heat win the 2012 NBA Championship!!! Lebron James takes the team to the promised land… The King perseveres & finally delivers on his promise. We having been watching the NBA for over 20 years & this is the first time ever after a team has one the championship, there is a clear feeling of achievement & redemption. Through this article I have not only captured details about the Heat organization but also of Lebron so as to understand why this championship meant so much to both city & player….

The Wade Shaq Era…

Burnie!!!

The Team started out in 1988 /1989 though the time this team came on the map was with the arrival of Pat Riley, the legendary coach of the Lakers. This also brought Players like Alonzo Mourning, Dan Majerle, Eddie Jones, etc. The team was a good strong contender till 2000, post which they had a slight decline between 2001 & 2002 where they didn’t even make the playoffs. Then came the Dwayne Wade era in 2003 / 2004 who was signed as the 5th overall draft pick by the Heat. The next few years saw the genius of Pat Riley bring the Big Daddy Shaquille O’Neal to Miami & come 2006, with a veteran squad of Gary Payton, Antoine Walker, Alonzo Mourning, Shaq & Dwade, Miami won its first championship!!! 2007 to 2010 there is nothing to write home about though come 2010, the world changed as the Big 3 came together – Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh & the most important & prolific peice of the puzzle Lebron James…

James, Wade & Bosh

The King!!!

Important here to mention the Lebron James story so that we understand the importance of this championship. He was selected with the number one pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Listed as a small forward, James has set numerous youngest player records since joining the league. He was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2003–04, the NBA Most Valuable Player in 2009, 2010 and 2012 and has been both an All-NBA selection and an All-Star every season since 2005. In 2010, a much-publicized free agency process ended with James signing with the Miami Heat. James led the Cleveland Cavaliers to consecutive playoff appearances from 2006 through 2010. In 2007, the Cavaliers advanced to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history, but lost to the San Antonio Spurs. In 2011, James and the Miami Heat advanced to the NBA Finals, but lost to the Dallas Mavericks.  James has been a member of the USA national team, winning a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics and gold at the 2008 Olympics.

.

Heat Win!!!

Post losing to the Mavericks last year wherein Mihir &  me were both rooting for the Heat to win, this year was definitely a make or break year for the Heat. Fortunately, the season did happen and through the same, The King performed at an unmatched level. James entered the lockout-shortened 2011-2012 season with a drastically changed demeanor. Admittedly humbled by Miami’s loss to Dallas, he spent the off season attempting to improve himself as a basketball player and a person, going so far as to work with Hakeem Olajuwon on his post game. The Heat opened the year on a strong note, finishing January with a 16-5 record and matching their best start to a season in franchise history. During that stretch, James averaged 29.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.80 steals and 37.4 minutes while shooting 55.1 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from three-point range. In the 2012 All-Star Game, he tied Kevin Durant with a game-high 36 points and tied the All-Star Game record of six three-pointers made. At the conclusion of the season, James was named league MVP for the third time, finishing with averages of 27.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.9 steals per game on 53 percent shooting. A championship was now way overdue…

The King Rules!!!

Finally, post beating teams like the Indiana Pacers & Boston Celtics, Miami returned to the big stage, this time to take on the Oklohoma City Thunder lead by the season MVP runner Kevin Durant. The series was pitted as one of the most evenly balanced series’ in the history of the NBA and with allstars on both teams, this was the most media friendly series as well. What seperated the men from the boys was not only the hunger and dissapointment for the Heat players from last year’s loss against Dallas but also the emergence of Lebron James who took over the reigns of the club and pushed it to the next level. The King had multiple triple doubles in the finals series – one of them in the decisive game 5. James also won the MVP of the Finals basis his contribution to this series. This also opens up another discussion basis build & buy. Clearly Miami Heat today is a bought & build team which defeated a build & bought team in Oklohoma City… Purists – one of them being my brother – will always argue this point though, today, the writing’s on the wall and Miami Heat are your 2012 NBA Champions!!! Today there is only 1 King to rule them all!!! Kudos to Pat Riley’s genius as president, Eric Spoelstra, the coach & key players not only like Dwade & Chris Bosh but a great supporting cast – Shane Battier, Mike Miller, Mario Chalmers, Udonis Haslem, Noris Cole, etc.

General Chilling Weekend

So there has been no update basis the weekend. This weekend’shappenings and the delay is totally because we had the NBA Playoffs happeningand also that post went up on priority. Having said that, the weekend was totallyawesome and spent with friends and family. The details for the same are mentioned – do have a read as they not only include bike rides, drinking and coolstuff, but also some awesome burritos & cheesecake happenings!

Nariman Point

King Fisher Ultra Time!!!

Awesome Beer Glass!!!

Started off on Friday, more or less planning Friday, as there were friends going to be over and the evening was planned around alcohol and general chilling. Saturday started off with a bike ride past Nariman Point, through Marine Drive also went in & around kemps corner, peddar road and mahalakshmi.Got home and finished the mundane chores and then spent the better half of the day with Rachita ordering food, alcohol & other things required for the party . Please note, Ritika, Suneel, Vishal & Ekta were going to be over forthe party. The best part of living in India is that everything is only a call away; called relevant stores, got veggies delivered home, got bloody mary mixes, philedelphia cheese, nacho chips and all delivered home! Didn’t need to move a muscle! Vishal was kind enough to order the magic box of beers which had 18 Kingfisher Ultras & about 6 Budweisers as Suneel drinks only Bud! Post watching Supernatural & Vampire Diaries Season 3 & a quick nap, 4 was the time by which everyone decided to come over and the party began!!! Started off drinking beers and trying to make sheesha with some bad flavours as the flavours in stock were exhausted… Ritika madesome decently bad sheesha which we had and then moved on to drinking more beers.

Cheese Cake!!!

World Best Nachos!

Post that, got ravenously hungry so Rachita was kind enoughto make us some awesome Tortilla Chips with Cheese Sauce (Nachos)! We got some ready made corn chips from a company called Cornitos and made some cheese sauce at home – killer combination people! You can try the same at your end with Doritos or any other local corn chips available. Also during the beer and sheesha session, Rachita was preparing an awesome cheesecake (check the pictures for the same above). Also dinner was being managed by her which was super bean burritos… Dinner was done which was absolutely sensational & delicious & post that camethe super dessert session which was unreal!!! Then all of us were zoning and decided to call it a night as we were decently high… Sunday morning started with cleaning the bike and sorting the bike cover, etc. as the rains arearound the corner. Decided to watch some D-grade movie called Hate Story which was pleasantly decent, post which most of the day was spent watching Supernatural season 4 which we finished where in Lucifer was being resurrected! Totally awesome, guys! Must watch! Can’t wait to get my hands on season 5.

Sensational Burritos!

Also, as mentioned, started Vampire Diaries season 3 which did turn out to be very interesting. Finally dinner was spent in true gujju style eating Khakhra Sandwich. Khakhra Sandwich is basically made using Roti’s whichare made crisp post double roasting like tortillas and then regular sandwich filling is put between 2 roti’s to make an ultimate khakhra sandwich! Finally, to close an awesome & well rested weekend, Rachita & I watched JohnCarter, which according to us was pretty damn good and closed the weekend…

NBA Motorcycle Connection

Our fascination with the NBA started way back in 1991 – this when we got Tecmo NBA Basketball on the Nintendo Entertainment system. Post that, the NBA has pretty much governed our lives – we’ve rented, watched most matches on God’s green earth, bought every game on every console and most importantly, got our whole family hooked onto our phenomenon.

Currently, our lives revolve around the NBA Playoffs, this to an extent wherein the early morning bike ride suffers basis live match telecasts. Currently we are following both the Miami Vs. Boston and San Antonio Vs. OKC series. The tricky thing this year is the shortened season and David Stern’s politics. Things that came out of this are the Bulls early exit from the playoffs, Magic not making the playoffs at all, other teams being plagued by one injury or the other. The only good that came out of this was Chris Paul making the Clippers a contender and one of the most fun teams to watch in the league this year.

Moving onto Miami and Boston. This series is a dirty clash, purely based on how Boston plays; they hit hard and also totally mind f%#$% the opposition. Miami, on the other hand, is the poster child for bought teams. Currently the series is tied at 2 games apiece and looks like Boston has the momentum; this after Miami won the first 2 games in the series. Rajan Rhondo is definitely the current star completely dismantling the Heat’s defence – does not matter who the heat throw at him they just cant guard him. The Heat is also missing Bosch, and Garnett is absolutely killing them over there. The Celtics have a very straight forward approach – guard Dwayne Wayde and let Lebron James beat us, without Bosch this strategy is working beautifully. On the other side, SA and OKC are in the exact same situation – 2 games all. SA took the early lead with 2 expertly executed wins. They ran plays like the Harlem Globetrotters and completely destroyed the Spurs. Once the game shifted to OKC, the story has been Kevin Durant and the defensive adjustments that have been made by OKC. Sefolosha has been outstanding and the Lakers must be killing themselves watching the resurgence of Derek Fisher. Kevin Durant is definitely proving why he is the scoring leader and almost impossible to guard. Like my uncle said, the series looks like they will probably go to game 7s respectively. The finals this year are going to be between true battle tested teams and a lot of fun to watch.

So post our expert analysis, you are wondering what is a Basketball post doing on our bike blog? The NBA has a lot of players and coaches who are bike lovers and hence we thought of mentioning a few of them. Till now, the only bike associated with the league was the one Derrick Williams from Minnesota used in the Slam Dunk Contest. Anyways, let’s start with Phil Jackson – the legendary coach of the Bulls has been known to ride on his chopper to and from work. He also has been wanting to travel the world on his motorcycle (this sounds like a rumour). Next on the prominent list is Rik Smits, the extremely tall Indiana Pacer centre; he for some reason has become a Dirt Bike Racer, scary how tall his bike is and the fact that it meets international racing standards. Jay Williams of the Chicago Bulls (I don’t know if a lot of you remember him) was also an avid Bike rider; unfortunately, Williams crashed his motorcycle into a streetlight at the intersection of Fletcher and Honore streets on Chicago’s North Side. Williams was not wearing a helmet, was not licensed to drive a motorcycle in Illinois, and was also violating the terms of his Bulls contract by riding a motorcycle. Finally, let’s look at Ben Wallaces nasty T-Rex…….by all means this is a nasty Trike. The one and only Original T-REX powered by a Kawasaki 1400cc engine, The T-Rex retails for close to $60,000, which isn’t really a problem from Wallace, given that he’s made over $87 million during his 16-year NBA career. Hope you enjoy these rare pictures around the blog and the awesome NBA Finals.

The Weekend with a Agenda

Saturday Morning Bike Ride View

Ritzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

The weekend was a roller coaster ride with a clear agenda this time – bike ride, movies & serials to be watched, good food to be eaten, beers & alco, Basketball & other sports, family time & general chilling… Friday began with a bang as the Miami Heat beat the Indiana Pacers in game 6 of their series. Lebron & Dwayne Wade played some inspired ball in this series. Post that, in the evening, kept it easy – watched Supernatural and called it a day. Saturday morning began with a bike ride past Marine Drive to Nariman Point twice over as the weather was spectacular and add to that there was zero traffic. Post which got home, made plans to go buy DVD’s; also by now had figured plans with Ritika to chill through the day at home, buy her phone and do some baking. Please note, the baking was being done by Rachita & Ritika who are both gifted cooks 🙂 .

Heat vs Pacers

Post going & buying oodles of DVDs with Mihir & Astro, came home & decided to go nowhere as the heat was killing. Decided after much debate to order Pizzas & Pastas from Karma, which were spectacular and were devoured in a matter of minutes. Post that had Sheesha & passed out while Ritika & Rachita baked the most amazing Lemon Tarts! After waking up, got Ritika’s phone delivered home, (yup this happens only in India type moment) where in you call a mobile seller tell him you want a XYZ mobile handset and want to sell your old handset; post pricing is agreed upon the guy delivers the phone home… Having said that, Ritika bought the Samsung Nexus which is an awesome phone. The evening was spent drinking beers with Vishal & cooking burgers; Bikes, Beers & Burgers is truly an amazing combination. The day was closed with another session of Supernatural.

Celtics vs Sixers

Budweiser!!!

Super Steak

Sunday morning was spent cleaning the bike; the same took a good hour also checked all the accessories like bags, foot rests, etc. to make sure everything is on track. Then watched Boston Celtics beat the Philadelphia 76ers in game 7 of the eastern conference playoffs. A note here, my Dad, Mihir & I have  been following the NBA for over 25 years &  totally love it.  Boston vs. Miami in the eastern conference finals is going to be one killer series. Having said that, Oklahoma City Thunder vs. San Antonio Spurs is also going to be a legendary series. Sunday also is Astro’s oil massage and bath day, so finished that & confirmed brunch at Smoke House Deli with Ritika, Mihir, Rachita & Yooti. The same had been planned on Saturday itself. Ate like we had never seen food – bacon, fish, chicken, beef and beers were had I had an awesome steak, post which got home crashed. Woke up, decided to have an alcohol free evening, chilled for a bit, ate some Lemon tarts, helped the Mrs. with packing Pani Puri (Indian Street Food) for the in-laws then watched another episode of Supernatural. The IPL finals were also on where the Chennai Super Kings took on Kolkata Knight Riders. CSK was going for a 3peat while KKR was trying to win its first IPL Championship. Rachita & I are not big cricket fans and so we decided to watch a hindi movie. This was after we totally devoured the super awesome Pani Puris J. Watched the Karisma Kapoor starrer, Dangerous Ishq, which was decently interesting -seemed to be heavely inspired from the book, Many Lives Many Masters.

Bike Looking Cool Post Clean Up

All in all, the weekend which clearly had an agenda of bike ride, movies to be watched, serials to be watched, good food to be eaten, beers & alco, Basketball & other sports, family time & general chilling came to an end with each item being ticked off basis completion. This was like a mini bucket list, which was quite cool! Also to conclude KKR did win the IPL Finals & the San Antonio Spurs beat the Oklahoma City Thunder and lead the 7 game series 1-0. Writing this post made me realize how much I am already missing the weekend & how much I hate Mondays… Nonetheless, tonight there are leftover Burgers for dinner with fries so Monday might just not be all that bad 🙂
